Prise en considération des cannabinoïdes dans le traitement de la douleur neuropathique périphérique diabétique
Résumé
La douleur neuropathique périphérique diabétique (DNPD) est une complication majeure du diabète qui peut avoir une incidence marquée sur la qualité de vie, peut entraîner une augmentation des symptômes dépressifs, et peut être difficile à traiter en raison des effets indésirables des médicaments. La recherche d’options thérapeutiques d’appoint pour la douleur neuropathique chronique, notamment les cannabinoïdes à usage médical, suscite donc de plus en plus d’intérêt. Bien que la pathogenèse de la DNPD ne soit pas entièrement comprise, des données probantes indiquent qu’une hyperglycémie persistante contribue à plusieurs processus menant à des lésions vasculaires, à une augmentation du stress oxydatif et à la libération de radicaux libres et de molécules pro-inflammatoires4,5—tous ces facteurs pouvant être à l’origine de symptômes de la DNPD, dont la douleur.
